Rural Dispute Resolution Highlights
Farm Managers & Sharemilkers
Mark continues to act for a wide range of farm operators, including Farm Managers, Sharemilkers (50/50 and Lower Order), Contract Milkers and Equity Managers. He has spent considerable time understanding farming practices and how they affect farm owners and operators on a daily basis. As a result Mark Copeland Lawyers has achieved outstanding solutions in farm management and sharemilking disputes of all kinds over many years. Recent examples include negotiating the early exit from a Lower Order Sharemilking Contract for the Sharemilker on the basis that the Sharemilker was emotionally unable to complete the Contract. Mark has also recently acted for 50/50 Sharemilkers against the Farm Owners in resolving significant issues concerning accommodation, effective area, production and related issues on-farm.
Sharemilker dispute
Advising an Eastern Bay of Plenty Maori Trust dairy farm owner on a significant breach of contract claim filed by its Sharemilker, and progressing the same through the various resolution channels.
Large rural debt recovery
Helped a significant listed rural services corporate in the recovery of a large debt owed by a dry-stock farmer who had defaulted on his loan obligations. A negotiated settlement was agreed immediately prior to (and avoiding) the bankruptcy of the farmer whereby the client recovered an acceptable portion of its outstanding debt.
